The Chinese - Mandarin and Cantonese Language At Cornell
The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell offers courses in both Mandarin and Cantonese dialects of Chinese.

Mandarin
In the Mandarin program, instruction is provided in the regular 4-year language format and in an intensive one-year program.

The regular Mandarin language program provides instruction from beginning to advanced. The program also offers a separate track for students of Chinese heritage.

The FALCON Intensive Chinese Program is a rigorous yet flexible program of full time intensive, uninterrupted study leading to rapid acquisition of Chinese. This unique accelerated program offers the longest period of concentrated instruction from the elementary level available anywhere. Both summer and full-year programs are offered.

Cantonese

The Cantonese program offers three years of study for non-heritage learners, and two years of study for heritage learners.

Cornell Area Program Affiliation: East Asia Program
The East Asia Program serves as the hub of a campus-wide network of East Asia specialists and as a forum for discussion of East Asian history, culture, and modern affairs.
